Biography

It all started back in 1998 when friends from St. Joseph and Willes came together and started jamming. Back then they called themselves "Dope Smuggluzz". Their lineup had Jon on vocals, Asif and Imran on the guitars, Spondon on Bass and Tony on the drums. Jamming went along fine. They were doing metal numbers from well-known metal bands around the world. And sometimes they were busy giving shape to their own compositions. But then like many other bands, they started having problems like incompatibility and other engagements, which led to the brake up of the band. Imran and Spondon left. The others kept together and with Jahan and Shagar joining in a new band was born. BLACK. It was just like that.

By this time Jon had developed a musically intimate relationship with Jubair Hossain who, in fact helped the band to let it's real works flow. Jon always had an inherent power to produce original and very not so commercial tunes. But he was not very adept in putting lyrics to his songs as he was in making tunes. Jubair did. With his lyrics, Jon's journey of making songs picked up pace. In their jamming sessions they started perfecting their own songs along with covering their favorite metal songs.

In the beginning BLACK used to practice in Jahan's house with "not so proud to have gears". After a while they started practicing in an underground room in Aziz Super Market. By then Shagar had left the band and Miraj joined the band as their bass player. During this time they started performing their own song "Blues and Rode" in the metal concerts which got a lot of favorable response. With that song they changed their musical genre from lone metal band to alternative rock and skid metal. Till then Jon always had this negative conviction towards anything which remotely resembled a box with black and white keys. You know what it means, Jon just could not perceive his band to have a permanent keyboard player. But all that changed when he met Tahsan, Asif's childhood friend and Jubair's cousin. And thus Tahsan was the last person to join BLACK.

You all know what happened next. Don't tell that you haven't heard Charpotro or Anushilon. If you haven't get out and grab a copy of these two CD's, you won't regret it. They brought out their first album in 2002. The album titled 'Aamar Prithivi' received excellent response and enhanced the band's number of listeners. Some of Blacks's well-liked numbers are 'Aamra', ' Mithha', Manus', to mention some. They brought out their Second album in this Year. The album titled 'Uttsaber Por.

Band Line Up: Jon [Vocal], Tony [Drums] ,Miraz [Bass] , Jahan [Guitar], Tahsan [Vocal/Guitar/Keys], Romel [Black Management].
